I do not have any qualifications and I
am worried about doing my NVQ, can you help?
Firstly, NVQs are vocational
qualifications are a way of showing the skills and experience you
have in doing your job.
The NVQ is broken down into individual
units and your Assessor will talk to you about the best way to prove
your knowledge, this may be through a statement from your line
manager or through documents that you complete in your day to day
work.

can also provide training for you to improve your skills.
What is included in the cost of an NVQ?
Registration with City & Guilds,
assessment, verification, certification, Learn to Care study guides,
use of resource books, 1:1 visits with an Assessor in your place of
work based on 1 visit per NVQ unit.
There are no hidden charges, in fact Learn
to ... has expertise in accessing funding so we can either offer
training fully or partially funded to make it a value for more
affordable option. Should you exceed the number of visits
allocated then Learn to Care can continue with your training at an
agreed rate, you will be kept informed of your target date and the
progress you are making to try and keep you on track.
What do I have to do for my NVQ?
You will have to show your Assessor
through a variety of means that you can do certain work-related
tasks in order for them to be able to claim you have the competence
to meet the NVQ standards. Evidence is gathered in your
portfolio and also obtained through your Assessor observing you in
the workplace doing specific tasks, you will be made very aware of
what the Assessor needs you to show them and provided with feedback
and advice along the way.
I work for a Domiciliary care agency,
can I still do an NVQ?
Yes you can as long as you work in a care
setting and are in a job role where the evidence for your NVQ can be
gathered you can do your NVQ.
How do I know which award to do?
This is dictated by your job role and the
requirements of your organisation. Learn to ... has developed
Skills Scans for each award level to ensure that you in a job role
where you are able to generate the evidence required for the NVQ,
this will be made available to you upon application. |
